Celebrate Holidays in Chester
Celebrate Mother's Day at the Mother's Day Tea, brought to you by the Chesterfield Historical Society. Reservations are required, so be sure to book your tickets in advance. Also during Mother's Day, attend the Bon Air Victorian day festival and parade. The celebration begins with a parade of antique cars and vans, and is followed by a celebration of families and friends gathering for food, games, and entertainment. This festival is absolutely free to attend.
If you're in town for the Fourth of July, celebrate at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds. The gates typically open around 5PM with fireworks beginning at dark. The celebration is free to attend and includes an activity area for kids plus entertainment. Blankets and lawn chairs are all you need to bring.
History in Chester
Learn about Chesterfield’s history through a winter lecture series from the Chesterfield Historical Society. Throughout January and February, members are eligible for free entry, though there is a fee for nonmembers. Dates and topics vary month to month.

From June through September, check out Pocahontas Premiers! Located in Pocahontas State Park, this event features summer performances from rising and establish performers from all across Virginia.

This dance festival is held on the fourth Saturday of the month and includes performances by dance groups in the Richmond area. Here, you can participate in more than 100 free educational sessions of hands on activities, shop from various local art and craft vendors, and celebrate Earth Day. Keeping Active in Chester
Stay active in the month of May at Columbia Muddy Buddy, held on the first Sunday of the month. Teams of two will trek through a seven mile off-road course including five obstacles. Members will then alternate running and riding a bike. At the end of the race, racers will crawl through the infamous mud pit and cross the finish line together.
