Living in the Chesterfield County School District

Transitioning to a new school district can be stressful for both parents and children. But when you’re living in apartments in the Chesterfield County School District, you have little to worry about. Curtis Elementary, Carver Middle, and L.C. Bird High School offer learning opportunities for students of all interests and strengths. From technology studies to world languages, students will find plenty f new learning opportunities.

Curtis Elementary School

Curtis Elementary serves students in Grades K-5. The school has both special education and gifted learning programs for students of all ages. Students are encouraged to use the library and technology resources to enhance their learning experience. Physical education, art, and music classes are integrated into students’ schedules as well. The school provides parents with a Parent Resource Center to stay current on school events and news.

Carver Middle School

Students in Grades 6-8 at Carver Middle School are encouraged to learn through the Anywhere, Anytime Learning Program. Carver Middle School offers clubs, activities and intramural sports in which students may participate. For example, students are encouraged to participate in the National Junior Honor Society and the Carver Middle School Yearbook. The Parent Teacher Association takes an active role in the schools success, as well, by holding fundraisers for students and teachers throughout the school year to support student activities and field trips.

L.C. Bird High School

Along with the core curriculum, L.C. Byrd High School students participate in life skills classes such as driver’s education, fine arts, world languages, and the Success program. Success provides each 9th and 10th grader with an 11th or 12th grade student mentor to help make the transition into high school smoother. In addition to Success, there’s also the L.C. Bird’s Governor’s Academy for Engineering Studies, which offers students the opportunity to explore multiple engineering fields to prepare them for the technology industry. Students can participate in their choice of 51 clubs and activities along with fall, winter, and spring sports.

Chesterfield County School District

Bus transportation is available to all students who live more than 2,000 feet from their school. Bus schedules, lunch menus, and school calendars are all available on a mobile app for quick access. Chesterfield County School District offers parents a series of interactive workshops such as organizational strategies and study skills that families can use at home with their students. Along with regularly scheduled parent workshops, the district has implemented Design for Excellence, which helps prepare all district students for responsibility and success outside of the classroom in the evolving technology-based world. The district also offers partial and full day prekindergarten, which is available at select district schools year round.
